Have you ever been to Brazil and just been in awe of how well they take care of themselves over there? Or just wondered how stars like Alice Braga, Gisele Bundchen and Adriana Lima always look amazing? Yes, I am sure their money helps but even the Brazilians that aren’t super-rich and famous always seem to just have something that makes you go WOW. Brazilian women have a host of beauty tips and trick up their sleeves. Here are some of our favorites:
Visits to the Dermatologist
“Brazilian women are big on skincare,” says Beatriz Oliviera of reviewbox.com.br, “we’re taught the importance of it from a young age, so regular trips to the dermatologist are second nature to us. In between visits, we stay on top of our skincare routine every single day and ALWAYS remove our makeup”.
Going Au Naturel
Brazilians love using natural products where possible. They make homemade sugar scrubs and swear by Guarana. Coconut oil is a huge part of their routine, they use it for cooking, on their hair and even for natural teeth whitening!
Even when not going completely natural, using creams with natural active ingredients such as Sol de Janeiro’s infamous Bum Bum Cream which is jam-packed with Guarana, a fruit native to Brazil which has a strong concentration of caffeine. And we all know caffeine is ideal for promoting circulation and tackle cellulite.
Using sunscreen is one of the biggest differences you can make to your beauty routine as it protects you from the harmful UV rays and can help you look more youthful and hydrated without makeup. “Sunscreen is an absolute must for Brazilians, especially because some of us are quite fair-skinned and the sun can be pretty harsh”.
More specifically, lymphatic drainage massage is big business in brazil. Some Brazilians have reported getting this type of massage done on the weekly which is probably going to put too big of a dent in my wallet but I will still stick to my monthly appointment! The great thing about any kind of massage it that it promotes circulation and blood flow around the body and can reduce toxins and that bloated feeling.
“Ask any Brazilian their tip for having healthy and hydrated skin and I bet they’ll respond with coconut water,” says Beatriz. Coconut water is not only delicious and refreshing, it also has many health benefits associated with its consumption. According to Healthline, coconut water may contain antioxidants that may help combat conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes and if you feel good on the inside, it shows on the outside. Additionally, it can also dramatically reduce breakouts thanks as it can decrease the amount of oil that lingers on your skin.
